Over the span of my 10+ years of working in this field i have been able to hone my skills in various different areas from mobile crisis, inpatient care, Partial hospitalization, outpatient, and in-home therapy. My focus in private practice is wellness for each and every individual who walks through my door. I work from a strengths based approach with varying techniques that are tailored to your specific needs. My practice is heavily influence by my desire for diversity and respect of different experiences.
My Journey
I began my journey to becoming a counseling post graduation with my bachelors degree in Psychology. I ended up working in public health on STI prevention work in Boston and saw a huge link between public health and mental health. I eventually enrolled into a master’s program in mental health counseling and worked with a vision of having experience in every sector in mental health possible. In addition to working as a clinician in the field i took on teaching college level courses at various institutions throughout the New England area. Through that process i was able to learn how to mentor and guide students in psychological studies and counsel students on academic goals and direction. My journey next took me back to my roots of California where i continued my clinical experience and focused on LGBTQ+ communities and children and family work. Understanding that there was a need for these two areas and integrating them was paramount in my understanding of family dynamics and the importance of support through counseling and psychoeducation. Having this new found knowledge i transitioned to Tampa where i now call home and found that my past experiences has lead me here to fill a need in the community and provide the care and focus on wellness. During my time here in Tampa i have found a great need for my skill sets on LGBTQ+ topics as well as children and family. One of the addition areas that i have been fortunate enough engage in has been my experience and Vietnamese language skills. I am one of the few if not clinician in the Tampa area that provides therapy in Vietnamese.
